If you want to use Static IP's on your own router/Linksys instead of the SMC put it in "modem/bridge" mode by:
ON FIREWALL TAB
check off Disable Firewall for True Static IP
check off Disable Gateway Smart Packet Detection - comcast techs don't even know what this is but say it causes problems with SSL "sometimes" - they say wack it.
ON LAN TAB
Uncheck Enable LAN DHCP (this turns off DHCP but you can still get to 10.1.10.1 behind your own Linksys etc...) Also, add 1 OpenDNS here... just in case (Comcast DNS has issues)
Now you can plug in a Linksys to one of the 4 ports and set it as Static WAN 75.x.x.x.x and do NAT

A working copy of hal.dll WILL be found in “C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386”
COPY THAT FILE “D:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\hal.dll”
And Paste it to “D:\WINDOWS\System32” folder; if it asks to overwrite say YES.

You may now un-do the changes made to Explorer\tools\folder options to RE-Hide files.
Shut Down the computer.

Remove the 2nd Drive and reinstall it to its own tower as Master. You should Now be able to boot the computer up as if nothing ever happened.

Fix Word Files
Quick fix: In Word 2002 and 2003, select File, Open, click the down arrow next to the Open button in the bottom-right corner, and select Open and Repair. If these steps don't repair the document, cut all its contents except the last paragraph mark, and paste them into a blank document. If this also fails, select File, Open, and in the 'Files of type' box, click Recover Text from Any File (*.*). Then click Open. This recovers only the text without the formatting. If Word still can't open the file, click Tools, Options, General, check Confirm conversion at Open, click OK, and use the 'Recover Text' option again.

Fix Office Application:
Click Help, Detect and Repair to launch a file-repair utility. Make sure 'Discard my customized settings and restore default settings' is unchecked, and click Start. Solve HAL.dll errors, boot.ini and XP wont start errors
Boot from your XP Setup CD and enter the Recovery Console...At the command prompt, type:

Bootcfg /Rebuild

and hit enter. Windows will then scan the hard drive, looking for valid Windows installs and startup information.

The exact verbiage will depend on your setup, but after a few moments you'll see a prompt that says something like:

Total Identified Windows Installs: 1
[1] C:\Windows
Add Installation To Boot List?

Assuming the information you see is correct, enter "Y" for yes, and Bootcfg will start the process of rebuilding the boot list to include the indicated Windows installation. Along the way, it will repair most "Missing or corrupt HAL.DLL," "Invalid Boot.Ini," "Windows could not start...," and similar errors. After a moment, you'll be asked to "Enter Load Identifier." This is the name of the operating system that will appear in boot menus. For consistency with the standard nomenclature used by Microsoft, enter "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" or "Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" without the quotes and hit enter.

Next you'll be asked to "Enter OS Load Options." For normal installations, enter:

/Fastdetect

and hit enter. In most cases, that's all it will take. You can type "Exit" to leave the Recovery Console and reboot the PC, which should then start normally.

Maybe even as simple as:
Boot from your XP Setup CD and enter the Recovery Console
Run "Attrib -H -R -S" on the C:\Boot.ini file
Delete the C:\Boot.ini file
Run "Bootcfg /Rebuild"
Run Fixboot

Safe Mode with Command Prompt and pick your operating system. At the command prompt, type C:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui (just rstrui in Vista),
